Checked with a couple of others today, and seems its not just me  At work the site is slow, and sometimes the front page half loads (IE8) at home on the laptop (IE9) the site is really slow, at home or work on my iPad (iOS6) the site is slow, and on my HTC phone, I generally give up as its so slow (all other websites work). I guess this is a question for the admin........... Can it be resolved?

That's not good, in fact no good at all!!
Let us do some testing and we'll see if we can indentify the issue and get back to you.

I find the same front page is very slow to load.

Yep, I find it slower than most other sites I go to but just presumed it was an iPad issue.
