On the 16th June just gone we had the terrible news that my four year old little boy has cancer. I have absolute faith in his full recovery but I realise nothing is certain in life.

He is to be treated at the Royal Marsden in Surrey and I am so lucky that we live so close.

They do a fabulous job there and save many many lives but I am now on a mission to raise as much money for them as possible so they can hopefully save more.

My first venture in to this sort of thing will be a golf day. I have some prizes but not even a venue or date yet.

i hope, when I do, as many of you will come along as possible but if any of you have any experience in this sort of thing, know a pro that could lend some support or in the position to donate anything I would be so so grateful.

My son will beat this.
Ash

Ash,

I am really sorry to hear about this horrible news. From this effort I know you are staying strong and that your son would be strong too to fight it.

Let me know when to take part in helping.

Best regards

Hi Ash,

This is the worst news anyone can have.

No words can express how you must be feeling.

Be strong for him.

I wish your son all the luck in the world to beat this.

Ash - you have my best wishes for your son and family - it will be a challenge to meet and beat.

If I can be of any assistance in helping to organise a golf day - I do have some experience in event management and reasonable connections with people who could help to provide entertainment and support.

Let me know what your thinking is at the moment - allow me to relieve you of some of that burden...

It would be an honour to assist in any way - and I am sure that TSG members would participate.

Best wishes

So sorry to hear this devastating news Ash...a parents worst nightmare. It's good that you have the strength to bash on, if not for yourself then for Daniel and your wife, who must be beside herself. I am sure the TSG community will support anything you do in an effort to help in this trying time.

Ash,

I echo all other statements made, my best wishes go to Daniel, you and your wife.

I can tell you my wife was in the Royal Marsden(Chelsea) last year they are fantastic people and the care they give is 2nd to none, your son will get the best treatment there is from them.

Of course I will play and help if needed in anything you organize

Michael

Thanks to everyone for the words of support.

Daniel had his first chemo session yesterday and it went well, if you can think of it that way. Last night the poor little fella wasn't the best but its all for the end result.

I'm slowly getting more prizes etc. still haven't got a confirmed location or date but I can't see the latter being a problem and the date will be around September I would imagine. Hopefully a weekend to enable more people to attend.

Thanks again everyone.

Let us know when you've got some dates in mind Ash.

We'll be happy to use an SES Saturday game for this, or to divert it to a course of your choice.

We're all wishing Daniel the best of luck.

Nothing is set in stone yet but it looks like Horton Park on the 21st Sept.

I have donations from Callaway, Direct Golf, Golf Monthly, Today's Golfer, Bletchingley Golf course, horton themselves so far and a few other things

The Surrey Advertiser will run it.

im hoping to get at least 20 fourballs.

One thing I don't have yet is the cost. I am hoping no more than £30 with at least a tender of that going to the charity.

i will post it when I have concrete details

Ash - just back from holiday and hopefully you received my text. We will form a conga of friendship and support for you. Would you like me to try for Saturday 14th at Royal Blackheath if that is of interest? Also happy to join the organising gang. Here for you mate. Jude x

Update.  Have spoken with Seccie and he is happy to work with us on a couple of dates if you are interested in holding the event at Royal Blackheath Ash.  What he needs from me is numbers interested in playing and then he can work out what kind of deal he can do.  Would we want food?  He gets hundreds of charity requests, but said if we go ahead and play at Blackheath, he would offer a prize to be auctioned of a 4-ball at Royal Blackheath.

The following dates are available:

Saturday, 24th August.
If we played on a Saturday, we would have to go off 10th tee and there would be no reserved tee times.  This is expected to be a quiet day though.
This date cannot be reserved.  It would be me organising with members.

Friday, 27th September - this would be the better option
We would be able to play in the morning and with reserved tee times and play off 1st tee.
We could organise brekkie/bacon rolls/lunch - whatever you want.

Don't know if you are interested Ash, but Seccie will hold Friday, 27th September for me at the moment.
This will stop him giving out that date to any other society.

I would tout the members and also get a few of them to play with us.  My gang are very supportive of charity days.  I would also hope to get good support from them offering prizes for auction.

Can you let me know as soon as if you want me to work with any of these dates?  Friday, would be my proposal.

14th September (Sat) is not available now.

Whatever you decide.  We will get as much support for you as possible.

Jude xx

Golf day is now up on the board for those ho fancy it.

I went with Bletchingley in the end as its a lot better than Horton and Steve gave me a better deal as well..

hope as many of you can join me in what I hope will be a fun day, loads of laughing and raise a bit of money for the Royal Marsden.

i can explain what an amazing place it is and every penny will go to them.

Ash
