A guy turns up at lovely Scottish links course and asks if he can get a round in. To his delight the professional says it's not a problem and he can get off anytime he likes.
Not knowing the course, and wanting to get the best out of his day, he asks if there is a caddy available. Again the pro says it's not a problem.
Waiting on the first tee the guy is disturbed when an old boy, who must be 90 if he's a day, walks towards him and introduces himself as the caddy.
The guy says I'm not being funny but you don't look strong enough to carry the bag. Been caddying and carrying bags here sir since I was a boy said the caddy.
Okay then but how's your eyesight. My eyesight is as good today as it's ever been sir, in fact see that bird 360 yds down there on the green, that's a Red Grouse, now some people might mistake it for a Ptarmigan but the red flash is across the head rather than over the eyes so that's definitely a Red Grouse. The guy is astounded, he can only just about see the bird never mind any red flash. So he say's okay lets go.
On the fifth tee, a particulalry tricky par 5 with a tight fairway, gorse either side, a drop on the left in to a small wood and sharp dog left right at 350 yds out, the guy steadies himslef and drives the ball better than he's ever done in his life, kept his head down, swept through the ball, maintained the swing, big finish, perfect. It couldn't have been better.
The guy says did you see that baby go, that's the best drive I've ever done in my life. I did indeed sir, a very fine drive indeed, certainly the best I've seen today said the old boy. Yes, I was particularly proud of that one, kept my head down, swung through, perfect. Yes indeed sir, it came off the club face beautifully said the old boy, a fine drive indeed. You did see where it went didn't you? said the guy. Yes indeed sir, a fine drive said the old boy. Well were is it? said the guy. Ah, I can't remember!! said the old boy...
