I think they're way overpriced for what it is. Plus you have to pay a monthly fee if you play more than 1 course. I purchased the iGolf Neo for $150 and paid the $37 year membership which allows you to download 100 courses and they are yours to use without a membership forever. The unit holds 10 courses compared to 5 for Sky Caddie and does not require a membership after you've downloaded the courses you want. It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles of Sky Caddie, but it tells me the distance to the center of the green and that's all I really need to know. If I were a touring pro or a low handicapper I might want more, but with a 23 handicap I just need to know how far to the green. You can also add courses and course bunkers, lakes or creeks yourself if you'd like. I would suggest checking it out. I've had mine for a season now and have only found 1 course that was mapped incorrectly. I've also found a few errors in mapping where the course has been re-laid out.

I played over at Gatton Manor with Peter Ferns a couple of months ago and he had the Sky Caddie. It was pretty good (had bunkers, water, greens etc all maps and, obviously using GPS, it knows where you are and so can tell you distances to each of the mapped items. Screen was a bit small and half the functions seem to be overkill (and therefore not used) but Peter was impressed with it (I don't remember how long he said he'd owned it). I wanted something more flexible (how far to the tree, how far to carry the bunker, how far to the flag - if it's at the front/back of the green etc). So my new toy is the Callaway Rangefinder. It's a rebadged Nikon with the 'first target priority' mode as the default (it fixes on the first 'target' rather than focusing on the animal hiding in the woods - the Nikon rangefinder is mainly sold to hunters!). It's early days but I like it.
