Golf Forums - Priors Winter League 2013

I am running a winter league this year on the Priors course at Stapleford Abbotts GC.

There will be six games running from October 2013 to March 2014.

Your best three Stableford points scores count toward your final total.

Everyone is welcome to come and join us for each event.  I may have to give preference to people who are trying to play the minimum three events, if I have too many people putting their names down to play.

The day will start at the Priors course where we will have tea/coffee and a bacon roll.

We will then play a 18 hole Stableford competition.

There will be a prize for the first and second place at each event.

The 18th green (carry over water) will be the nearest the pin hole.  Prize for nearest the pin.

I will also be running a £2 sweep (50% to the overall winner, 25% to best front nine and 25% to the best back nine.)

I am looking at getting some small trophies for each event (first, second and last place).  Plus, bigger trophies for the overall winner and runner-up.

Each event is in the games list, just add your name if you are interested.

The dates are:

All game have a first tee time of 10:30am

Sunday 20th October

Sunday 24th November

Sunday 15th December

Sunday 19th January

Sunday 16th February

Sunday 16th March

If you are interested in playing I need you to register this weekend.

I have to confirm the tee times with the golf club on Monday.

This game is advertised on another website and at the moment I have eight players.

Hi Russ,

Sadly, I cannot make your first game on 20th (I'm working that day) but I will endeavour to make it to some of your games over the winter period! For those of you that don't know Russ, he runs an organised ship and his events are always fun to join. If you do get the chance, I would recommend giving these days a try!

Thanks Ian, I must admit I am a little bit baffled as to why I've had no interest in the first game.

The last time I ran this winter league I had twenty people turning up on a regular basis.

 I think your main problem is that most people tend to play one day or the other and saturday is the current day of choice among most people. The Epping bandits regularly have 20 players every Saturday which straight away takes out a big chunk of die hard tsg regulars.

Thanks Dave, I was beginning to wonder why there was no response to this game.

I've put this up on two website.

I fully expected to get a good response from this site and one or two players from the other site.

But instead, I got no takers from this site and eight from the other site!

It's a shame as I have two good prizes for each event and trophies for the winners on the day.

We have not had a game together for a while Dave, we should arrange something.

Don't  despair, I may well be able to fit some of these dates in, but as I travel so far I shall decide nearer the time , also depends on the weather forecast.

I have run these events before and everything is down to the weather.

There is no deposit, you pay on the day.
