Dear TSGers,

The waiting is finally over... The TSG MatchPlay Championship 2014 (Sponsored by The Altonwood Group) has begun and the draw has made fascinating reading!

A few quick reminders:

- Players MUST have entered 3 cards on TSG by the time the tie takes place or have a valid CONGU H'cap.
- All ties must be completed by the end of April.
- Any ties not being completed, will be decided by the toss of a coin
- You are free to choose whatever format of MatchPlay you wish
- However, whatever format you chose, it must be agreed by both players before teeing off takes place.
- Home player has first dibs on venue but we encourage everyone to be flexible due of travelling times
- Standard MatchPlay rules will be listed in the TSG MatchPlay Group page

So, who's your money on?

Hello Ed, The rules are clearly explained by the Team in the Group section TSG Matchplay Championship .... in your case, playing against Andy , you give him 3 shots, holes with index 1 to 3...., if you play against me, you give me 9 shots... you play each hole as a competition, you win or loose the hole or half it, etc. etc, a tactical game too... There are also lots of references on the Internet blogs etc. Good luck.

Remember to take into consideration the difference in Par between yellow and red tees if its a lady playing a guy.  The guy will have to give that difference to the lady.  e.g. Royal Blackheath men is 70 and ladies is 72 so if a guy and a lady are both off 20 handicaps, the lady receives 2 shots from the man to account for the par difference.  Generic rules confirmed by Secretary.

Hi Steve, By the way, yesterday in our Matchplay I should have received an extra shot due to the Stroke differential . All square then....

Congratulations to Roger Dickson who sailed through the first round, with a devastating and clinical thrashing of the poor old naked golfer!

A delight; and no shame at all; to be beaten in such magnificent style by the reigning champ. All bets are off now for an (almost continuous) Bubba Watson style second win!

Steve (the humiliated and humble) Duffy................still looking for my missing cheerleaders!!!!
