Hi I'm relatively new to TSG and relatively new to golf. Apologies if this seems a very basic question but wondered how I obtain a recognised Handicap Many Thanks

Paul, the recognised way is three cards (usually off whites) submitted within a couple of months.  cards endorsed by member of said club/society.  Obviously the same course should be used.

Hi Paul, When you enter your scores on the TSG website, it will work out your handicap (but not a CONGU one). You will then be able to print a copy. Every scorecard you enter will alter your handicap by .1 (minus or plus). Should you score well over 40 stableford points, your handicap will be cut dramatically, but it depends on the SSS rating (or slope). That is how I understand it, someone correct me if wrong. Happy golfing & looking forward to meeting you at the TSG Champsionship day, this Saturday coming. Regards Brigitte

Of course the down side to this is the slight issue of having to join a club.... expensive when you are just starting out in the game.

Whereas the TSG Handicap Certificate system is more than robust enough to meet most requirements.

You can record rounds played off any of the tees. Each tee colour has its own SSS (standard scratch score) which is used, along with your score, to generate a handicap. The white tees have a higher SSS (normally) than the yellows so the same score would produce a lower handicap.

Hi Paul...you may have well have worked it out by now, but in order to obtain a TSG handicap, simply go to 'My Handicap' pull down menu and select 'Enter Scores' then, whether or not your game was posted on TSG...if so, a list of games you have played but not yet entered scores for, will be presented. Select which game, then from which Tee...Yellow or White.... The scorecard for that course with then be displayed.
Fill in the details which may or may not include No. of putts or sand saves...whichever stats you wish to record, plus any comments you may like to make for future reference.
Finally, 'submit' and the software takes care of the rest....your h'cap will be amended accordingly.
You may check your handicap, print a cert., or analyse your game using the pulldown menu's
Hope this helps.
Kind regards and look forward to meeting you on a course some time in the future.
