Golf Forums - What to do about now shows?

I staged an event on 3rd November where I had a person called "Charles Powell" down to attend, he didn't. In fact his profile has some discrepancies, for example, he's male but has a pic of a female [obviously a joke] and his location is Texas!

I have put him down as a no show but I have concerns that others may do the same sort of thing as a joke. I still had enough players at my event and didn't have to pay any sort of deposit but I am concerned about this as I often have to put down deposits to get the tee times; I don't want to be out of pocket due to a prank!!

From a previous encounter of the same thing when i first started posting games and its not clever or funny. I now sometimes go through players profiles to check their genuine and if they seem at all not right, then i have just removed them from the game, so a proper golfer can attend and not miss out......... On the other hand the guys that look after this site have sent memo's months ago asking for players to put Real Names instead of joke ones as it makes organizers look stupid asking for a JOE BLOGS in the clubhouse, so those who have proper names and even a picture are more likely to be people to trust and not just messing around...... SOME PEOPLE JUST TO GET A LIFE

I think a picture and a real name goes a long way. You will be playing golf with people you may not know so a real name is a must when looking for people in the bar as Neil mentions. Luckily I haven't had any of the no shows in my games but i agree it would be painfull especially as mentioned there was finacial loss.

Lets get some pictures and real names out there.
