I hope one and all have had a very nice festive holiday and may I wish you all the very best for 2015!

As I am sat pondering how I am going to get my motovation back and join you guys on the course playing golf after 5 months out, I thought.... "I wonder how other members deal with that dreaded first round"

You may or may not know the feeling of the first tee after so much time off, you're excited to be back with that driver clutched between your hands, the smell of the fresh cut grass and the silence of the course...

Well it's silence, until you hit your ball and then its screams of panic, as your fourball all shout "FORE"....

Now your left with that walk to your next shot, with your mind telling you to slow everything down, keep your head down and dont panic!! Then it comes, the last kick to your once golfing pride.... yes the 28 hanidcap player gives you his wisdom and explains what your doing ever so wrong!!!!

Ahhh, I cant wait!!!!!!

Joking aside, how do you guys deal with it, Driving Range? Just go out and suffer!

Personally, I lower my expectations and try to play with people who I know are just going to laugh with me, after 9 holes its normally showing signs of a return to some form of golf I believe I am capable of playing!

Hi, It would depend on why you have not played for so long? if you have not been ill, then go to a range first, you may start with a few bad shots but you can just keep hitting until at all starts to work again, even if it takes a few visits thats better than trying to play a game , badly theres no fun in that.

I believe that over 90% of this game is between your ears.  Of course you need practise and working on your grip, plane and other fundimentals but I think just keeping your golfing brain going is very important.
The driving range, putting green is a great place to help you recapture a golf day.

I only listen to my golf pro when its my swing being commented on though I do enjoy others input.
Happy golfing in 2015!
