Having only played one round of golf in two months (due to the weather) I have thrown myself into improving my putting.  (While also having the odd driving lesson).
Lasy year it was pointed out to me in a golf shop, that my putting stance was closed I was hooking the ball. Horrified I went away and asked for a second opinion.  Yup it was agreed I lifted the club and closed the face.
No wonder I was taking 38 putts a round.
So I bought a centre shaft putter and tried to change my stance, moving the ball back more to the middle.  I also introduced a super stroke grip (Fat Boy)
It helped a bit I probably knocked off a couple of putts per round.
I then changed putters and although still using a super stroke it was much thinner.  I changed my grip and am trying to use a more open stance.  I'd like to putt square to square but its a work in progress.
I've looked at Billy Casper and Raymond Floyd on line both fabulous putters.
Still a lot of work to do but if I can average 32/33 putts this spring I'll be happy

Anyone else converted to a centre shaft putter?

To find out which putter type fitted my stroke, I visited a putter lab which used cameras and computers to check every aspect of my stroke. My stroke is a slight arc (I use the Ping Nome/heel shaft which suits my stroke). I had the lie angle and loft adjusted, he also shortened the shaft length to 31 inch, (the average length of a Pro's putter is only 32 inches, check out Phil Mickleson) and fitted a counter weight inside the grip end to improve the balance. Then we tried all types of grip until I felt comfortable with one. My putting has improved as a result and I feel a lot more confident on long putts. The whole session took nearly an hour and cost £90 inc all adjustments, shaft counter weight and new grip (Winn Jumbo Lite). Well worth it just for the confidence boost. I would highly recommend it to everyone who wants to improve their putting.
