Golf Forums - Driver Shaft Length for a Shortie!!

Hi Everone!!

The shaft length of my Driver is 48.5 inches, and standing at 5ft 8in, I feel there's an imbalance in my swing because of the shaft length, and I'm not connecting face on. Has anyone got advice about this or had their driver shaft shortened due to being a Shortie?!? Did it benefit your game?? What about irons?? Any replies would be gratefully received!!!

as an even shorter shortie, I've often wondered the same thing!  I now play with men's clubs, which in theory are much too long for me, but a few years ago I had my ladies clubs shortened which was disastrous. I think I like Jack Nicklaus' comments that it is the shorter players that really benefit from the longer clubs because it gives them more arc. I'd persevere for a while before having them cut down - it could be the 'lie' of the club itself that's causing the problem rather than the shaft length.
