I think the topic has already been covered but cannot remember when....

1. During winter times, where most golf courses have temporary Tees and greens, so in effect making the course shorter, should not an adjustment be made to the SSS to fairly reflect one's score.  I am not sure how one can do that on the system.

2. Also if someone is fortunate enough to get a great score, ie in the 40+ , surely the card should be recorded for handicap calculations to make it fair to future players when money or prizes are offered.

Not complaining, just wanting clarification from the knowledgeable golfers out there.

Hi Brigitte (et al),

Very interesting questions and yes, I am sure it's been discussed before.... however, not sure that the R&A even has an answer to the first one!

But if you've not played the complete course, then don't record the score, or at least don't include it in your handicap calculation.

However, with regards to the second point, I don't understand why anyone would score 40+ points and NOT want to record it?? Isn't that the point of tracking your score to see how you improve?

However, like many things, there is always someone who likes to try and beat the system....

Personally, I can't see the point of not recording your scores, up or down. Whether on TSG or at any club, it's a 'game of trust' (even in the PRO game). However, those that try to beat the system are not as clever as they think. We all know who the bandits are!

Are you going to name names?

;O)

It's relative really.... You may tee of further forward than normal (like you do all year!!!) But the ball doesn't go so far....you may have a green that is closer than normal but its not as flat....you may have a bigger hole on temp greens for some courses, but you guessed the yardage on approach so lucky to be close....having said that, if you want to be exact on your handicap, the pro will give you an adjusted SSS for the day or month....you can then adjust your score for entry purposes on here.
