Hi Matilda,
First of all, a warm welcome to TSG, and congratulations for posting so many games at various locations. Very refreshing for the site.
Leaderboard, as far I understand, once you had entered your first 3 "official" cards, you scores will go on the Leaderboard automatically and the best monthly score get rewarded with the lovely TSG Green Towel.
So for this month, try to beat 52 Stableford points!!!!
Hope pe this help and good luck.
Brigitte

Brigitte, that is very helpful and thank you. I think i am addicted lol....i won't be around most of July so i am trying to get in as many games as i can. I look forward to playing with you Brigitte hopefully when i get back from my travels. PS: i will be playing less after my travels to concentrate on work.
Gary, thank you too for your contribution. I really hope that isn't the case though having said that, i scored 39 stableford points yesterday and i am not on the leaderboard (not that i am seeking fame just curious). If its automatic like Brigitte said i would have appeared on the leaderboard by now. Anyway just checking how this whole TSG works. I hope i settle in soon.

Hi Matilda (et al),
Thanks for the posting and your email......
A very good question and despite Gary's sour grapes :O)), the TSG monthly leaderboard is NOT always won by the same people. However, you do require to have entered TEN cards into the system before your cards appear in the monthly leaderboard - this is mentioned at the top of the leaderboard page.
Why ten cards?
1) The members who post their scores are rewarded
2) The system is fair and not bias to new joiners (while we establish their handicap)
In addition, there is a TSG Roll of Honour history listed in the TSG Newsblog pages, where you can see all the previous winners and their Pts tally that month and where they played.
So far we have had 53 different winners in 64 months of running the leaderboard.
Out of those 53 winners, only the following have been multiple winners:
Andy Attartd x 2
David Jacobs x 3
Mark Crane x 2
Michael Roos x 2
Nev Smith x 2
Peter Walton x 2
Phil Fen x 2
Roger Ireland x 2
TSG Roll of Honour (2011-2016)
Hope that explains it all....
Happy Golfing!

That is great Ian, now we all know the stats.....
(sorry Matilda, if I misled, it was not 3 cards but 10.......that is probably why you have not appeared on th Leaderboard yet).
Gary cheer up....

I reported the abuse lol
I'm happy....just saying that 42+ points should be rare.
And Ian....there are regular names on the leaderboard....not necessarily winning.
They say 36 points and over is a three or four time a season occurrence when you get the right handicap.
I'm gonna use my congu certificate as a towel for now!

Yep. But none since gaining a club handicap, putting out and playing in matches and comps

It's great whenever the question of handicaps rears it's ugly head. We always get the comparisons between CONGU and TSG handicaps. And we always get the complaint that the same old names are on the leaderboard regularly with 36+ points.
Well the comparison doesn’t work because you will find that the TSG handicaps are based on EVERY game you play whereas the CONGU handicaps are based on what your club classes as qualifying games, usually the club medal and extra games that are added by the committee. Unfortunately/fortunately for the club member this can mean you get a truly stellar result in one of the medal rounds and get your handicap cut by maybe 5 shots (based on Rogers 52 points and assuming a higher handicap player). For the next 18 months they may never get anywhere near the expected 3 or 4 times a year 36 points, because they are turning in a card that increases their handicap by .1 each time. Whereas the TSG golfer who may play 3 times a week and enters their cards every time will find their handicap bounces back to a truer figure in a couple of months.
So you have to answer the ‘simple’ question, who’s handicap is the more honest. If you have played with enough TSG members, it is that the handicaps are more or less correct.
As to putting out – that is down to you and your playing partners to decide what your rules are to be. Generally the rule of thumb whenever I have played a TSG game is that it is a gimme if it is within a putters grip of the hole – this is the SOCIAL golfer after all.
Discuss please!
