Getting fitted for golf clubs can be a very tricky affair. Luckerly I have been blessed with good advice in the past. But recently when I decided to change my driver, I was given too much conflicting advice, as to smash and spin rates. The long and the short of it was the centre I approached was not up to fitting me. Enter Lee Porter from Hylands Essex, he and his coaching staff David Laffar recommended I try Cobra Max a club that had not come on my radar. I had been so bamboozled by spin and shaft flex, I had not considered what was right for me. Anyone who has played with me knows I have a life long fight with a slice, now being armed with decent grip , alinement and a an offset club and shaft built for my swing plane and speed hopefully I can stay on the fairway more often. Club fitting is essential for players of all abilities but try to get fitted by a fitter working with a PGA coach and one who understands what you require and who is not just trying to sell you the most expensive club in the shop.

I know exactly what you are saying as they are obsessed with spin rate and only have one way of looking at fitting,I had this problem with Kevin at Warley.

I can also recommend Lee Porter at Hylands. There are very few people who understand the mechanics of golf as well as Lee and he has a brilliant no-nonsense approach. I wouldn't go anywhere else for club fitting or adjustment.

He's not expensive, but you do have to book well in advance.
