There's been a lot of condemnation of the recent article written by Danny Willett's brother in this month's National Club Golfer.....

Amateurish journalism? Or in light of the crowd at Hazeltine over the weekend, does he have a point?

I think after watching the last two days, Peter Willett has the mark of the braying yanks - not many are in the braying mould, just enough to make the rest of their countrymen look as though it IS all of them. With a population of well above 300 million, it is not difficult to get a group together who are going to make ALL of them look like the worst of them.

Still nine and a half to six and a half still gives Europe a chance, so fingers crossed!!

I totally agree John.

Having sat down on Saturday late afternoon and watch from 5pm on sunday, I can honestly say I didn't enjoy watching the event at all.

Firstly, this is golf (not a football match) and the barracking from the crowd was hidieous (and confirmed Pete Willett's thoughts).

Secondly, what is with all the fist pumping and jumping around after ever shot.... fine if you win the match or hit a exceptional shot but on the first green? Just felt like it was way over the top.

Lastly, Bubba Watson crying like baby into David Love's arms - FFS guys, its a game of golf and he wasn't even playing....

Can't help feeling the Ryder Cup is looking somewhat tarnished in my view this morning!

:O)

I have never been mad about the Ryder cup,  its just to over the top, the fed cup, and the open were great, golf as it should be, but this,    its played like a war, but unlike a war there is no winner, as in 2 years time they will do it all again, so whats the point, away  golf for me is more about playing the game,   so on that note the sun is out  so I am off for a game   we have all got to be doing something

Have to say I agree with previous comments.....

The Americans go way over the top, but not only at the Ryder Cup, which was an ugly spectacle with almost the entire American spectator group raising their fists and pumping the air in unison.

Their whoopin' and hollerin' is an embarrassment, with yells of 'In th hole'. as soon as the ball is struck, I'm sure they compete as to who can be heard first, and then comes... 'Your the Maaaan' .Even the Masters is ruined by these idiots. At The Open...(there is only one 'Open'), Americans who Yee Ha...like little girls are given short shrift by the Brits.

Most American pro's I'm told, thoroughly enjoy playing in the UK because the 'audience' participation is much better with genuine applause when approprriate rather than screaming banshee's they are used to.

Nevertheless, we were outplayed this time round and some of the final days matches were outstanding.

The USA won for the first time this millenium, but I'm sure our young Turks learned a lot, and now know they can beat the Yanks...so next time round, Should be fun.
