TSGers might want to know about the experience I had with another TSGer, Sam Freeman, today at the Hertfordshire, one of the Crown Golf stable. Sam had booked a tee time and confirmed with them the TSG rate (£26). When we arrived they refused to honour it and said we would have to pay the full rate of £40. They accepted we might have been promised the £26 rate (and that the Hertfordshire is listed on the TSG site as offering a special rate) but still refused to let us play at that rate. Nor would they change their mind when we pointed out they were about to lose £52 in green fees and hire of a buggy on a course that was not exactly overflowing this afternoon. It seemed to me that the attitude throughout was that we weren't members at the Hertfordshire so they didn't give a toss about us. We played Essendon instead (lovely course, friendly staff). I would not go back to the Hertfordshire if they paid me to play it and I'd recommend all other TSGers avoid as well.

 What a sad story.
I think the issue needs to be tackled by The TSG HQ.
As far as I understand all Crown Golfs should honour The TSG deal whether a "Pay & Plqy" or a "Members" course.

We had a similar experience there a couple of weeks back,  the man in the pro shop was very abrupt  and as I hadn't met the organiser of our game before I was unaware if he had arrived or booked in and payed yet, he said you'll have to pay £45 full price   When the others arrived he still would not let us pay until all 4 had filled out forms and payed together.  No please or thank you no smile,  manners cost nothing and people will vote with their feet  with over a dozen courses 20 mins from there why would you go back

Hi Simon (et al),

What a shame, I'm so sorry you had this experience!

Rest assured, we'll bring this issue up with the Crown Marketing team, as I am sure they will be keen to investigate the issue....

I agree with Andy, good manners cost nothing.

I will also forward this thread to them.

Back soon....

Ian

This has been the attitude at the Hertfordshire for many years sadly, and it continues in the bar too
when I asked if the rolls I was buying would be ready in 20 minutes, I was told "don't count on it" just before she walked off.
But to be fair after nearly 20 minutes I asked a different member of staff, and the order was chased up. This was the same visit as Mr Turnbull.
