Hi Everyone.
I have a small query, as I posted yesteday I am a keen collector of golf club scorecards from aound the world, and one of my collections is called "Oldest Golf Courses of The World" and I try and obtain a golf club scorecard from each counties oldest golf course.
My query is that golf was played on the St Andrews links in the 1400s. and St Andrews was founded in 1754, but when I try and find the oldest golf club or course in England I have The Royal Blackheath golf club stating it was foundedv in 1608 and the Royal Devon stating it's the oldest with 1864.
Does anyone know just which club is the oldest please
Have a great day everyone.
Scottish Bob

Hello Bob,
Do you mean oldest Golf Club or oldest Golf Course ????
TSG (The Social Golfer) has 2 current members at Royal Blackheath. I am sure one of them will make contact with you and enlighten you on the status of Royal Blackheath....
Regards
Brigitte

Hi Bob,
I can confirm that RBGC is the oldest club in England, having been instituted in 1608, but our course is not the oldest as we were previously playing on Blackheath Common. Royal North Devon therefore lay claim to playing on the oldest course in England, the course at Westward Ho! having been played since 1864.

Hi Judy
Nice to meet you through Social Golfer and thank you for the information regarding The Royal BlackHeath Golf Club it certainly can be a contensious issue when dealing with the Oldest Golf Club or Golf Course.
I think my best way out is to try and obtain a couple of Royal Blackheath G.C.scorecards and display that and the Royal Devon which I have together with their own stories.
If you every come across any R.B.G.C.scorecards Judy on your travels please keep in mind and I could send you the stamps for postage
Have a great day and thanks again.

Hi Judy
Thank you very much for your kindness in wanting to help me to be able to add you rhistoric Royal Blackheath Golf Club scorecards to my collection, I have emailed you club before but unfortunately no reply, but with all the scammers about these days you can't blame them for being careful.
Judy I tried to send you a private message with my address and as yet I am not a Pro and have no PayPal account, but I have no qualms about posting it on the forum if that is okay with you
Have a great day..Scottish Bob

We have had a lot of change at the club over the last 8 years and I can only apologise that you did not hear back. We have a new Secretary now. Let me know your email and I will contact you and you can send me your address that way.
