Could we have a proper e-mail sent whenever somebody responds to an event/PM?

I had a situation today where I had PM'd a member here about a game.

They had replied that they were available to play.

When I got up this morning I checked my e-mails and saw nothing so went to play golf.

The person who replied to my PM was actually at the course waiting for me, but I didn't know it!

PM = Inbox message

For some reason some times you get an email when you have mail and some times you dont, of course great when it works but as i was the person in question waiting around a look to improve this would be great.

All the best

I still don't understand why 'PM' is 'Inbox Message' but I think I probably shouldn't ask further !

Dependent on how you have set your email notifications (you can change them in the 'My Account' pages)  you get an email immediatelly when a new game is posted in your area and/or a game you are involved in has been changed in some way PLUS twice per week (Mondays & Thursdays) you get an email to tell you about unread messages (if appropriate).

So, if you didn't get the email, I'd guess one of the following:

1/  You have switched off email notifications in the 'My Account' section of your personal 'Home'.

2/  It wasn't a change to the game detail itself (which would cause an immediate message) but a private message and you wouldn't get an email telling you about unread messages until the next Monday/Thursday (whichever was next).

3/  You use AOL for your email - See other forum thread about this but basically because we send so many emails AOL (and only AOL) have 'grey listed' us and are currently bouncing every email we send to AOL members. We have complied with their requirements but are stunck in their internal process without the ability to contact anyone via phone, fax or email (their attitude - fill in the form and wait !!!).

We are considering changing the 'My Account' email notification options to let you choose how often to send email notification about unread messages (rather than just do you want them twice per week Y/N).  Is this what you want (more configuration options on when emails should be sent)?

A 'PM' to me is a 'Personal Message' that I would receive in my inbox, shown at the top, right of the page.

I have checked 'My Account' and I have all the options checked.  I'm with Virgin Media and not AOL, so that counts that option out.

What happened is that somebody sent me a PM, but on the morning of the game involved I checked my e-mails to see if I had any replies, but none were showing.

I am after an e-mail saying I have a new PM waiting for me, like most of the other golf sites I belong too.

If I had received an e-mail I would have checked my inbox for the message, but I didn't really have the time to check my inbox before I left.

I just think it would be a good idea and would certainly stop this problem happening again.
