Dear ALL,

TSGer Paul Houghton and his case against Brentwood Borough Council for discrimination on account of him not being allowed to use his buggy at Hartswood Golf Club have now been taken on by top lawyer Chris Fry...

The BBC interviewed Paul on 3rd September 2018 and all the major news organisations have picked up on the story we first highlighted in 2016...

Dec 2016 - Discrimination-in-Golf...

Paul joined The Social Golfer in 2014 and has been an active and welcomed member ever since.

In 2017, The Social Golfer sponsored Paul and fellow disabled golfer Roger Hurcombe, helping them to fund their competitive golf.

Here's what the BBC wrote about Paul Houghton's case....

Just a thought....

Paul goes to Doctor to get the letter from his GP……

DR: "What can I help you with today Sir?"

Paul: "Well I would like you to write a letter for me please, confirming whether in your medical opinion I am one leg below par, two being the standard number of legs for a golfer"

DR: "You would like me to confirm whether you had your leg amputated 18 years ago?"

Paul: "Er well yes, it's for the council"

DR: "The council?"

Paul: "Yes the confirmation provided by the European Golf Association medical professionals does not appear to be sufficient proof for the local council to allow me to use my golf buggy."

DR: "Well a letter is going to cost you £20 and please pass on my thanks to the council for using up another valuable GP appointment, please do come back if you would like me to tally up any more limbs"
