Hey all,

I first picked up a club just over a year ago, and I can easily and happily say that I am quickly becoming an addict (They say the first step to getting help is admitting it out loud!)

The challenge I have is feeding this addiction - I only have a couple of friends who play occasionally so having the chance to get out there and play with others is tricky.

I don't even know what my handicap really is as I have not been able to play enough proper rounds of 18. :(

So if there is anyone out there in a similar position (or with more experience who doesn't mind tracking my ball down in the rough) then drop me a message and we can hopefully arrange a game or few.

I am based in Stansted, Essex but happy to travel around.

Tom

As you are a pro member you can just join any game you see posted. We were all strangers to each other once.
See you in the rough.

Speedy.

There are a few groups playing on a regular basis in and around Essex. As speedy says jump onto posted games and join in the fun. Next match for example Monday 17th at woolston manor still has a spare place..and you can easily lose lots of balls on that course. We all remember starting out..

You will be welcome at any game you join in. Even if you only play 9 holes, add your game to your games played list and soon you will get yourself a handicap. Then you can be just like the rest of us bandits!!

Hello Tom, I'm in much the same boat, so happy to have a round at some point, although I am very new. Based in Brentwood so not to far away. David

Hi everyone,

I too, have no handicap yet, started in January had a few lessons and been on Hainault Lower course twice, mainly been practicing on the driving range.

I need to get on the course more regular but it needs to be within 10 miles of where I live as I am a night worker getting home about 5.30am so very awkward to travel any further at present.

Hope to see some of you soon.

Ray

If you play a game on your own, still put your scores in and your handicap will be calculated.

Thanks all,

Just got home from a quick solo after work 9 holes, and really starting to get to a level where I don’t feel so nervous about getting out there with others

Looking to join a game or 2 in the next few weeks, so hope to see some of you out there!

Tom

Hi John,

Oh, did not know that, I thought someone else had to do your scorecard to make it a valid one.

Stick every card in. This game is about being honest with yourself and you, like all of us, want to get better. If you want someone to mark a card, do it when you play when you join a posted game, but if you look, most of us rarely have a marker.

Your target, like ours is to reduce your handicap and a record of what you've played will help achieve that, so put all your cards in.

Good luck to you

jb

Hi all. I've been playing about a year now, started to improve the last couple months but not too much as I'm still 27 handicap. Would anyone like like to meet up for a game at some point? I'm from Chelmsford. Thanks Kenny

Hey Kenny, I’m over near Stansted but can travel, sounds like we are of a similar level, would be more than up for a game

 Hi guys,

Im new to this way of finding people to play with but am always up for a round. I live in Wickford but work around Stansted and dunmow.

I can always get out of work from around midday and love a twilight round.

Hi Jay,

I occasionally go for a quick 9 or 18 after work in Stansted, but would love to do a few more.

If you set any games up on here then let me know, or drop me a message some time and let’s get something arranged.

I tried handing the scorecard in but the man at the desk at Hainault said you had to be a member before submitting scorecards, new rules came out this year.

You just need to add them, as you have with Hainault, on this site and you will see a change on your handicap. And you will be able to print a certificate should ever you need.
Glad you enjoyed your first outing and are looking forward to your next. Now you've been bitten there's no going back! Look forward to meeting you sometime.

Hi All, nice to see there are new golfers like me on here. Started playing 7 weeks ago and having lessons which has been such a benefit. Just need to put into practice. I have been playing with my son who introduced me to the game but can't always play, hence joining TSG. Would love to hear from other golfers in and around Essex.

Hi David,

Welcome to TSG!

You will find plenty of local games in Essex and the surrounding areas. Best thing is to join a few, get to know some of the TSG members before posting your own games.
