I was reading the news on the teletext today and there was a report about golf being bad for your hearing. Apparently if you are using a thin face titanium driver the sonic boom created when you hit a golf ball may be enough to damage your hearing. They are even saying that it might be an idea to wear ear protectors when driving. Russ

I've been led to believe that it's only dangerous when you catch it out regularly out of the sweet spot - so some of us on here have got nothing to worry about!

This was on our TV news here in Australia too. Problem is we also have to worry about skin cancers from the sun, throat cancer from beer, and red-bellied black snakes in the rough. I suppose the real problem is that life is bad for you.

How can you say that life's bad when (aside from the stated downside) you've got - 20 million people occupying an area the size of Western Europe (we've got that many on the South East of England!); almost year round sunshine; uncrowded golf courses and world class rugby & cricket teams to watch????

Yep, we're a bit far apart from each other here - about one person per one hundred square kilometers. That's why see more snakes than we hear pings.
