Dear TSGers,

For those that haven't heard, it is with great sadness we report that Michael Hanley was taken ill suddenly while out golfing with fellow TSGers Anna Guss and Chris Ford yesterday.

Michael suffered a heart attack and was rushed to hospital and is currently in intensive care.

I am sure you will join me in wishing Michael well and hope that he makes a full and speedy recovery.

We will of course update you if we get any more information on his condition.

In the menatime, our thoughts are with Michael and his family at this difficult time.

Michael's family have updated today that he feels a bit better, but his heart was so damaged by this massive attack that he needs an operation. To have that as soon as possible he is going to be transfered from Wexham Park Hospital where he was taken yesterday, to one of hospitals in London. I don't know which one though. Will update once known.
Anna

 Thanks Anna!
I'm in a bit of pain when I breathe but it's a pain I'm glad to be feeling right now!
Not spoken to the doctors yet about my treatment etc but my niece and sister in law who work at St Thomas's for a heart specialist are trying to pull some strings! This is when you find out if you know someone with some pull or not!!!
Going to school with Pierce Brosnan didn't advantage me so who knows!!

Bon soir (l don't know it in Polish - very remiss of me!)

🙁

Good to hear from you Michael  & looking forward to more news , I am optimistic and can't wait to see you play golf again, but it doesn't mean I shall listen to your advice as to my choice of clubs or shots !!!! Ah aha ah.

Dont forget to put August 2020  date in your diary for the Annual Northern French trip.

A bientôt

Brigitte x

Many thanks Judy!
I drafted a reply to you and at the moment I was just about to press the post button l sagged over and hit the wrong one and I can't focus on an attempt to recover it if it's not permanently lost!

I did the same thing a while ago with a reply to Anna Guss on a 'system' that I can't recall and I'm too zonked to attempt it now!
You colleens can be so so so distracting! I was probably trying to be too word perfect when on this occasion, you know how us celts' normal below standard male

Thanks Gary,much appreciated!
I've just got my phone back from the hospital ward administration, it's taken about 3 hours to get the capacity from 7% to 57%!
Still waiting for my MRI scan today! They seem to do the ones that they expect to go home today 1st!

I'm still in Wexham Park but I've just been moved to the male side of cardiology ward 4!

We were hoping that I could have had my MRI scan here by now but I think priority is given to patients expected to go home before the weekend!

The problem is that consultants need to be available to examine and make treatment assessments of the scans! I think only those working on the weekend are doing emergency cases!

My family have asked for a case conference to decide which hospital does what and when! I guess I will here till Monday at least!

The consultant says I'm doing well considering the severity of the incident

Hey ho!

PS : l've just seen the great Fulham Fc result tonight against QPR! Up to 4th!

Thanks all for the sentiments, short but to the point ; just as I was trained to do when drafting my audit reports!

I'm now in a mix of heaven and hell!

The Catholics among us will understand this!

A new patient has just arrived into the bed opposite me at midnight!

A more comically horrific incident occurred in front of me a couple of hours ago!

Seeing Paul on the list of browsers ; Debbie will no doubt later attest to the voracity of such incidents!

 Hi all

Still here in Wexham Park hospital! Just had breakfast! Waiting waiting waiting for lunch already!

Overjoyed by last night's Fulham win against QPR

I hope once I can get hold of a notepad, (thin lined) ;  that I will be able to get stuck into  drafting Brigitte's swing improvement plan !

My first thought was that we could consider her having a golf attire change!

Looking like a golfer generates more confidence !

My 2nd thought was that it might help me to demonstrate my swing thoughts to Brigitte if I practiced hitting my irons and woods left handed !

Fortunately my brother Denis doesn't use his clubs much and there's a couple of lefties at Cherry Lodge who struggle with their own games who should perhaps consider giving away their clubs !

This ...........

Hi Judy
Lovely to hear from you!

I was in the middle of drafting a reply that would have evidenced your comment but my rather imposing ward nurse appeared to take my blood pressure and at the same time my lunch was placed on the table in front of me!
With that loss of concentration I missed the post button and all of my draft was lost!

Enjoy your golf!

Catch up with you soon!?

xxx

Hi all!
If anyone is interested in the quality of the consultant leading the cardiology team here at Wexham Park hospital!

I'm obviously curious about the people there who together have thus far been on my case!

He is Dr Adria(e)n Cheng! A very impressive CV and guy! His morning rounds of the critical care ward I was first in discussing the patients cases were as impressive an example of doctor/nurse team leadership that you could ever encounter ; eg briefing from the surgeon(s); nurses on the incidents, actions taken, further treatment recommendations, patient interaction and precise decisions about what they will do next!

Hi all update from Michael himself on Monday 25th Nov

Hi Mike
I'm stable but my blood pressure is a bit low!
My brother Denis and niece Leanne have just left after a short visit!
I need a MRI scan to establish the extent of the damage and the solution
options!
I'm hoping to be transferred to St Thomas's soon to have these done!

I'll keep you all posted on developments!

Purely by chance one of the ambulance crew who transferred me to St Thomas's was one who attended the incident at the golf course!
He was very impressed and complimentary about the actions taken by the club staff dealing with me! It's all very well having a defibrillator but being trained how to effectively use it is somewhat important!
Good night x

Hi Judy
My point was that they did know what to do, and kept me going until the ambulance crew arrived! I don't recall anything about the day prior to the game, during or the resus action nor the hospital treatment etc.
I think the ambulance crew were very impressed at how well the staff acted making their task easier to take on!

I've been pretty lucky so far!
Cheers x

Micheal, You collapsed on the 5th hole, a very steep par 3. At first you were given the CPR by one of the GX members playing in front of us. He appeared to be a doctor, knew exactly what to do... It also appeared that on that very morning The Buckinghamshire Rescue Team had their First Aid training at the Artisan's house. They reacted immediately, brought defibrillator and continued the CPR until the ambulance came. Very competent people. Funnily enough at first they thought that the emergency call was the part of their training. They soon realized how serious and real it was.... You were very, very lucky Michael :)

Thanks Mark! I've had the bypass surgery! I should be seeing the medical team tomorrow to find out if they're going to do any further intervention, eg a pacemaker, or whether they can remove the temporary wires! My heart rate needs to be a little bit stabler! I could be out by Wednesday if its the best prognosis!
Cheers

 Hi all
Thanks for the best wishes!

I came out of hospital on the 24th Xmas eve!

I've ventured out a couple of times, yesterday and today!

I'm feeling very weak at the moment and my ICD left shoulder wound is still very sore and bruised!

Still the recovery starts now!

Happy New year!

Just a brief note to say thanks for the good wishes I've had since my attack back in November 2019 and to relay the good news that I have been able to play 2 rounds of golf in the last couple of weeks, both competitions, firstly a vet's 4 man team event (best 3 scores counting on each hole) and yesterday I played my first qualifying vet's Monthly Stableford! Scored 29pts (51st of 82) but should have been better!
However I wouldn't have been able to play if I hadn't used a buggy! I've a long way to go with my recovery!

I'm entered in a Texas Scramble team event next week and hope to step up my playing and seeing some of you again soon!

Cheers
Michael

Well done Michael to be back hitting a ball or two after 21 months. Best of luck, take it gradually and enjoy.

 Thanks all!

My ball striking for my hybrid and woods play is very inconsistent but my pitch and run, greenside bunker play and my putting has been excellent!
I want to shave about 8 shots from my gross scores!

Interesting to see how the new handicap system treats a recorded a 0 blob score! On our par 3 8th!

I put my tee shot in the water, and also duffed my penalty drop 3rd, followed by my penalty drop 5th! I opted then not to finish the hole! If we were playing a medal competition I would have had to continue to finish the hole with an unlikely chip in 6 possible but a probable 8, being the outcome! The scoring system recorded my score as a 5, ie +2 above par!
