Hi all. If I'm totally honest, I've stumbled across this site.
I've only just got back into golf after a 7 year lay off with a severe back issue and knee problem (sound like I'm in my late 80s don't I)
I've played 3 rounds in last 4 weeks and really got the bug again for golf.
1st round 4 weeks ago played Hainault lower and went round in 18 over on a really muddy one, and last 2 weeks played on my own at Belhus shooting a 9 over and 14 over (again real muddy) . I don't have an official handicap.
Be honest, I found it a little tough playing on my own and talking to myself. I'm a generally decent person who likes to have a laugh, like to play golf to the best I can (Im no world beater) but to enjoy it at the same time.
I see people posting invites etc for rounds, but thinking it's a bit daunting and thinking it may be a bit rude a new member to the site saying they would turn up (if you understand). Any tips for using the site and getting a game in local and how to introduce myself to others?
Again, thanks for reading my long winded hello post.
All the best
Rich

Hi Richard Welcome to the site I think you will find that it's a relaxed place where everyone just wants to play golf and have a bit of a laugh and I can assure you that nobody would mind you joining a game in the slightest regardless of standard. We were all new once and once you have joined the first game there will be no looking back sure we'll catch up soon Daryl

Hi Richard,
As Daryl says, we are a friendly easy going bunch. Just join a game, turn up and enjoy yourself. You'll find a lot more games get posted as the days get longer and the weather improves. See you out there. Pete

Hello Richard
Welcome and hope you enjoy the site and sort some games out.
If you go onto the calendar of events I have just submitted a charity event in September if you are interested on 4 September at Colne Valley with my details.
If you are interested give us a shout.
You don't need an official handicap but you have already hinted at some of your scores so you wouldn't be playing off 28 lol

Thanks all for the warm welcome. I will certainly be seeing some of you when the weather becomes drier although I will be practicing so I don't make a mug of myself.
Will also be checking out the calender and will always be truthful about what I have been shooting so won't be called a bandit lol.

Hi Richard
Welcome to Social Golfer. I have only recently joined the site and have played a few games. There is a game you can join at Cranfield Romford. My mate Ian Archer will soon whittle your scorecard into a starting off handicap. If you bring along your last 3 scorecards we can get you a provisional handicap before we play the game. If you haven't been to the range there at Golf Kingdom it corner of Whalrbone Lane and Eastern Avenue Romford. Entrance off Whalebone Lane. They have Top Tracer there to see ball fight distance etc loads of data you can store into your smart phone for each club in your bag.
See you on the tee
Regards
Steve
