I've never played a single game yet. Not a single hole. There! I said it.
I'm sure you've all been there! Been interested in the sport, taken a few lessons - but nervous to test out your skills on the course?! That's me right now.
That's why I am looking for some kind people who'd bear my (very) amateur skills and show me the ropes and hopefully after a few games, I could pay it forward!
Any takers? I'm in Croydon btw.

Hi Anuj,
Welcome to this site, very brave if you to explain your golf situation. We have all been beginners whether we started aged 4 or 40 or older.
You need to take the plunge now and join one of the game posted on this site and test your skills, have fun doing so, make new friends, keep your scores, write reviews, and come back for another game, another day , another week.
This site is very inclusive, you will find some very patient golfers and some with less patience but I am sure you will enjoy your experience. If not, let the Team know. Make sure you learn the golf Etiquette & Rules from people who actually know the Rules. Have the current Rule book with you & learn some rules too, it will help you and will give you confidence.
Always arrive with plenty of time before your game, be ready at the 1st Tee box with Tee and ball in hand ( spare Tee & Ball in your pocket). Most people now play "ready golf", once Putting is finished , move on to the next Tee, mark your Card when the others are Teeing off.
But most all all enjoy the course, the surrounds and the company.
Good luck
"VIVE LE TSG"
Regards
Brigitte

Welcome Anuj
Yep, we've all been there. When I started there was only a mate around to wind me up, but offer help as well. When not playing with him, I found a 9 hole and just kept at it on my own.....
That's how I have decended to the depths I am now at . It will be nice to see you sometime on a TSG game, but, in the meantime go practice on a 9 hole, make your mistakes there, then come and join in (you won't need many practice rounds). And do as Brigitte says, get a rules of golf book (free from any good club) and make sure you get the important bit right - Etiquette

Thanks Brigitte and JB. Very kind of both of you to reply!
I didn't even know that golf courses allowed someone to play by themselves! I will definitely try to go play a few times to get the hang of it. The etiquette does scare me, to be honest. I always fear messing something up inadvertently no matter how much I try not to.
Somehow all the games I've seen on TSG so far need me to be a Pro Member to join - even if they're marked 'Open'. I'm hoping this isn't the case always. I'm currently on holiday till Mar 28th so if anyone fancies playing anywhere driveable from Croydon, I'd love to!
