Whats the point of everyone posting their games with no spaces? Those of us not playing really don't need to know you're playing a game but as it's only two balls it's you and a mate..............

In fairness Mark I also found that a bit strange but maybe there was a space when first placed online.
However every time I have looked they are booked up so your point seems valid

I was playing two games with TSG members on Mon and Wed this week until I found members only, so both were legit games. I'm playing Ian on Friday, TSG. And I have a game with Rob at Toot set for Tues next, again TSG.

What is the problem posting a game for two? I've heard people in the past complain about entering scorecards when it's not a TSG game.... Sometimes you cannot win!

There is no problem posting a game but Mark didn't understand why games were advertised when there were no spaces to enter the game

That's exactly what my point was. I think to myself, I wonder if there's any games local I can join, have a look, and there are but, they're all for the poster and a guest, so why post it if there isn't a space for someone to join?
I'm not saying the game isn't happening but no one needs to know if they can't join it anyway.

First, I would like to say how nice it it to see so many games popping up on TSG since the lockdown , one thought that this might never happen . So let's rejoice.

Because of the new restrictions set by official golf governing bodies , 2 balls only is the norm, keep your distances and Tee times are 10 or 15 times apart , the Tee time has to be prebook and prepaid by the Organiser unless you are a Club Member. (Certain Clubs do not allow Visitors/Guests at the present time , but this may change).

So you will see a lot of games in a 2 balls posted on TSG and already full,  unless the Organiser is willing to take a risk & pay for a 4 balls or more as did Tim Joy (bless him) for the Gatton Manor game on Thursday 21st May.

Mark: your question why not post a game ?
My reply: why not ?

It keep TSG alive & vibrant, gives an insight as to where one can play without being a golf Member, gives the Players a chance to record their scores, track their games and keeps their handicap "live", it gives the player a chance to write or update a Review of the course , it makes you discover courses you may never have heard off before and might tempt you to play on another occasion.

Mark, if you are interested in joining a game that is already full, why not go on the Standby list, someone else then might join and if a Tee time if available (you have to be quick),  there you have your game provided you book & pay for it in advance .

Sometimes, one posts  a game already full , just for "showing off" that you were the lucky one to play a "posher" course , I do.... ahah ah... I like beautiful courses even if a bit pricey .

So, keep posting games whether a 2 balls or more, it opens doors , you never know whom you might meet .

Lets hope that the current situation will get better and that "normal" golf  will resume & that we shall be able to have that pre-round coffee and a nice sociable drink at the 19th which we all miss.  At the present time , you need to arrive at the golf course 10 minutes before your game and go home straight after your game.!!!!

Hope to see you on the golf course very soon !

Brigitte

A little light at the end of the tunnel, in my area anyway. Redbourn are moving to 8 minute intervals from Sunday and will also now accept guests, but unfortunately I will only be allowed 1 as any more would be on a seperate tee time.

Also it looks as though from the beginning of next month, the first relaxation of 'socialising' in pubs and cafes, as long as you sit outside, so hopefully clubs will start to serve on patios etc - watch the patio areas take over other areas at some clubs.

Going to try to get two, two balls next week, have to see if my login allows it! Watch for a game Tuesday hopefully.

There are, for obvious reasons, an unusually high number of full games over the next few weeks.  Might it be worth adding something to search critera so as to only list games with spaces?  One for the TSG amangement team to consider.

Hi Pete,

Thats a great suggestion, I have added it to the TSG Development task list.

Might not happen straight away, as we are currently rebuiding the site home page and working on mobile page speeds but should be an easy one to do.

Any other suggestions: theteam@thesocialgolfer.com

You could always post your own game, Mark, and let someone join it :-)
