Hi TSGers,
Thought I'd give you all heads up on my expereince over the last week.
This time last year, I bought a new set of Golf Pride Golf grips on Amazon (N.B. NOT Ebay!).
Now, for one reason or another they have sat in the back on my car and stayed there throughout Xmas, New Year and COVID.
Last week, I enquired at my local range about having them fitted and was quoted £6 per club on the phone. e.g. £60 for my x10 clubs
When I arrived to drop them at the shop, they informed me they were fake grips. Oops.
So, I asked them to show me the real ones, and I genuinely could NOT tell or FEEL the difference, EXCEPT the rubber on the fake ones were slightly thinner.
I then did a 'blind' test on myself, and funnily enough choose the fake one, as having the best feel... alas, the shop then refused to fit them anyway.
They did however offer to regrip my clubs with the legitimate grips at £15 per club x 10 = £150 (!!!!)
So, the moral of this story...
Be careful what you are buying online?
OR
Dont pay inflated prices of original equipment manufactuers, as you wont be able to tell the difference?

Grips are overpriced as is fitting, which is why most people play with old tatty grips that have not been changed for 3-4 years. I fit my own grips, it takes approx 10-15 mins a club dependant on how hard it is to get the old tape off, once you get into a rythm it's straight forward, as Roger said there are plenty of vids on YouTube.
Even if they are fake, as you said you can't tell the difference, and if you change them yourself each year I doubt you will notice much difference other than having a bigger bank balance. Surely a fake grip that is one year old is better than a grip that's not been changed for 3 years...

Try adore golf grips . Com if you don't want to buy fakes, probably more expensive than you paid but they are original and are discounted

eBay and such like are awash with fake merchandise, even pro v 1’s apparently.
I made a commitment to support my local/centre a few years ago and buy nearly all my gear through them. I look up the American Golf price and ask if they can match it, they usually do.
My last major acquisition was a Ping Golf Bag.
In these tough times I feel it’s even more important to support our local retail outlets.
