As fully paid up member of my golf club I like all other golfers have missed having a round of golf with friends. Without having access to the all the  facilities during the lockdown months our subscriptions have supported the clubs and help them survive this strange year(s). We still cannot predict when the clubs will fully reopen. I would like you thoughts on the suggestion that all clubs reward this loyalty by presenting each fully paid up member 10 free guest passes so we can invite friends to play at our courses and we at theirs with no green fees to pay. This would cost the clubs nothing and in a way provide some remuneration for this years fees.

The first shutdown was 52 days and my club reduced 2020/21 fees by two months. Second and third shutdowns they have stated that a credit will be applied to our next renewal in May. Considering the help that is being given (not wholly obviously) all clubs need to make sure the members are not screwed for the pandemic and the help THEY recieve is passed on - those that do not try this approach will, I am sure reap the loss of members for it.

(Our monthly paying members have had fees stopped and Flexi members will have their 'dates' extended)

Hello John,
That seems like a very good & fair approach from your Club. I am sure the well established and run Clubs will offer similar schemes.

I have not heard from my Club (DL Hampton Golf) yet, but I expect a similar offer to yours  will be on the cards , otherwise as you rightly say, the Club will
loose memberships, specially in the area where I live where there are so many golf clubs to choose from.

Pierre's golf club, Wyke Green has offered some reductions very similar to your own.

The present closure of golf courses hopefully permits the Greenkeepers (if not Furloughed) to do an even better job and we can look forward to great conditions when allowed back on the golf courses.

Personally I cannot wait but I have found plenty to occupy my time happily & successfully.

All the best

Brigitte

Thanks John. Having not heard from the club I'll pass on what you have said and see what they come up with.
