Hi new to the site as I stumbled across it whislt looking for a new trolley battery.
Have had a Hillbilly Terrain for years and am very happy with it but when my last good battery died after several years of good service I have had major issues with the local golf trolley shop in my area. They kept supplying me with new batteries but all died within a few months. I received apologies and 4 replacements plus was advised to purchase a new charger but still encountered issues. The last battery they supplied - a LEOCH, GO GOLF AGM - LG-A250 - advertised it was suitable for 250 rounds of golf but once again started to die after 13 months. This time the shop wouldn't replace because it was a month out of warranty. They say that the lead batteries are poorer quality these days and have a life expectancy of a year!
So I was wondering if anyone can advise a good online shop to purchase a good battery and what sort of battery you may advise? I did consider a Lithium but doubt in my current financial situation I could stretch to a Lithium plus the new charger it would require. I certainly couldn't afford a new trolley unless somewhere allows instalment payments so any advise would be sincerely welcomed. I play once or twice a week during the Summer months. Thank you.,

Hi Chris
Been using Li Ion batteries for years now and would never go back to lead acid. Yes you will pay more for them, but as you have found, the lead acid do not last.
Just a quick trawl on eBay, have found one for less than £120 including charger, and same company selling them another for £128. At the rate you are going through the l/a, 2 years and you will have almost paid out for a li ion with not a lot to show.
I bought two shady batteries about 12 years ago and both still will run a Stewart for 25 holes, and they are smaller than l/a ones. And I usually play in excess of 100 games each year.

Hi John, Thanks so much for quick reply. Actually lower £100's may well be affordable. The shop I got other batteries from were charging £85 for lead and £185 for lithium and charger. Found a few leads online for under £50 but as you say probably pointless. Do you have the link to the ebay ones if that's not too much trouble? I assume that my trolley's connector will work with these?

Type this in the search bar on ebay:
Golf battery lithium with charger
You will end up with batteries with KINETIX as a brand name - the link does not work when pasted here.
Good luck

Thanks all. Have looked and might go to a 27 hole or 36 hole one as they are only £10 more expensive. Sorry for being an idiot but what is a T-Bar? Sorry again but I assume the connector which is fixed to the underside of my trolley will fit these batteries?

Hi again, just out of interest : I just took my Lithium battery to check the level of power and very surprisingly, after 3 whole months + of non use, it was fully charged .....

Type:
hillbilly terrain Battery Connector & Wiring
into ebay and you will see (hopefully) the cable you already have - one end is a T bar and the other is a Torberry connector

Ah thanks John. The T-bar is the two pronged connector shaped like a T. That's identical to the one shown with the battery charger and identical to my current charger and connector that is attached to the motor of my trolley so assume all is good connection wise without having to rewire etc. Found on ebay Lithium Golf Battery 18-27 Hole, 16AH,T-Bar & Charger for HillBilly Trolleys for £116.49 which is a steal so will go for that. Don't do 36 often bar an All Dayer at East Sussex National and on that rare occasion we buggy it as the old knees aren't what they used to be!
Do you all leave the lithium's on charge permanently or not? As I say I don't play through winter so not sure of charging routines with lithium's. Really appreciate all your help.

Once the lights show charged, switch off the charger and disconnect. If it's a while between games it may be worth a top up - but again as soon as the lights show disconnect. Takes me about 2 - 3 hours to charge up, and the only time I have had to to up is last week where they have been out of use for 3 months.
Hope this has you sorted out, and enjoy getting back like the rest of us from next Monday

John, Brigitte, Thank you so much I really appreciate it. I bought the one I mentioned above for £116.49 in the end and that's a saving of £70 odd from what the shop was offering. Thanks for the advice because I wouldn't have known which one to go for. Well worth knowing re your charging routine as well because I just used to leave the charge on, even over winter, and not sure if that was the right thing to do.
Not sure I'll get back on as quick as some as I'm not a member anywhere. Like to play different courses but weren't too many deals online last summer, fingers crossed for this.
Thanks again, I really appreciate your help.

Hi Chris ,
Good , you have got a bargain.
As to playing golf when you are not a Member of a Club, keep looking at the games posted on TSG & join: the courses, the day , time & cost is all there for to pick from.
Keep looking & join, TSG players are a nice bunch of people .
Brigitte
PS: as soon as your battery is charged, turn off & unplug as John said

Hi Brigitte, Thank you so much for that info that's very kind and will be very helpful. We used TeeOffTimes a lot in the past but deals were few and far between last year with many Clubs increasing their green fees from £20 ish to £30-£50. I used to have a really handy 241 book but don't think they do it anymore. I know sites offer 241 vouchers but I suspect the Club List where you can use them isn't too long these days and weekend use is probably rare!

Hi All, Stupid question alert from a Lithium Battery Newbie! Fabulous service from the seller at Ebay as received product today. Thanks John you didn't half save me some hassle!
Couple of bits of advice needed though. My Hill Billy Terrain trolley has a T Bar connector already attached to the trolley motor and I have briefly fitted the battery and it works beautifully. However there is a TBar that is also supplied, which I assumed was for the charger but it isn't. Do you know if it is just a general addition in case the trolley itself needed that particular connector? Basically what I am asking is it safe to use the TBar already connected to my trolley? Also because this battery is so light and smaller compared to lead batteries can you guys advise a perfect sized strap that you may have purchased to keep the battery in place on your trolleys?

Just wanted to post a thanks to both John and Brigitte for the Lithium Battery advice and Ebay link. Bar my driver, which I purchased for a tenner, this battery has been the best golfing investment I have made. Light, powerful (it will out run me if I'm not careful), quick charging, it's been a godsend. Hasn't improved my golf mind, but what a great piece of technological advancement.
