Looking for some advice...I used to play every week many moons ago but the last 15 years  I only tended to play one weekend a year (golf trip away with some mates) , I used to be 18-19 handicap but I  play off 25 on the times I play and I am competetive with that . I have now retired (im 60) and have started to play every week  2 games so far shot over 100 both times  after not playing since September 2019., I want to get a new driver with a large head never having hit one before and I feel I am missing out ..Any advice of what would be a  good driver for me ... I have Taylor Made 3 and 5 woods but doesnt need to be Taylor Made.

Regards Andy

Hi Andrew, I'm jealous you've retired and have more time for golf, my advise is to go for a fitting, somewhere your comfortable with going to and not too far away ( in case you need advise or adjustments). I went for a fitting a few years ago at an american golf and after trying many new (and some  expensive model drivers) the pro decided I should tee the ball 1/4 of an inch higher and to stick with my old cleveland launcher which I'm still using. What an honest chap. Hope this helps 👍

Hi Andrew.  I would whole heartedly agree with Barry about fitting etc.  There is very very little between the top big name drivers.  Because of that, price is a big factor along with just what you like.  If you like the look and sound of a Ping rather than a Taylor made - go with it.  You'll enjoy using it more.  Some of the lesser names also make very good drivers.  Again though fitting is the answer.  Just don't get pushed into what they WANT to sell you.  Look at the fitting results and pick what YOU want.

Fitting 3rd'd

But if you just wanted to try a good "older" club then listen to Andrew and go with that feels best....some older ones worth a look

Taylormade R15 is a good club...forgiving, cheap 2nd hand, adjustable to suit you, and you'd sell it for what you pay for it.....

Ping G25...same but less adjustability

I hate Callaway for no reason so can't recommend one of them

Cobra made several great anti slice drivers....if that's your problem shot....search Cobra Offset for a few

Wilson always a good solid cheap option too....but won't get the resale benefits of the above....the Cortex was a very underated driver....

Really depends on your budget I guess

Thanks for advice ... I borrowed a TaylorMade R7 460 from a friend and it really was an vast improvement on my current driver so I might try to find a second hand one otherwise I will try to look for something similar
