Dear TSGers,
I've just been asked what I think is the best 'value' golf course that I have played? And I was stumped!
Not because I haven't played enough (I'm at around the 200 courses played mark now) but becasue I thought it was such an open question. So I thought I ask the TSGers, which UK golf course they think is the best value.
However, so it doensn't become about 'cheap' or 'deals', I'm going to add a caveat and ask...
"What is the Best Value for money golf course you have played over £50 per round?"
Answers on a postcard....
:)

Seaford Head, Brighton. Good course layout, nice clubhouse, and good views, with a great finishing hole on the 18th. Still possible to play this at the weekend for £30 if you catch a deal.
Scotland
Fairmont St Andrew's, Kittocks course. This is a cliff top course and I played this in 2018, for less than £50, my review is on the site. This in my opinion in terms of condition is a 5 star course Keith fantastic views, the course would shine if it was located anywhere else other than St Andrew's. You can still get tee times on this course for approx £55.
Memroable course over £50, but paid less than £50.
My most memorable value course is Panmure in Scotland located a few miles from Carnoustie. The normal green fee is £130, I played this in the winter of 2019 for under £50. my review of this course is on the site. Lots of history here. This was the course Hogan played to learn links the week before winning the open at Carnoustie in 1953, and this was the only time Hogan played the Open in the UK.
I look forward to hearing about other value courses.

Just played Stapleford Abbots, thought it was great value for money at £22 for the quality and layout of the course. I'll definitely be playing again :)

Working my way up the country:
Broadstone in Dorset, £65 from next week, excellent value for a quality course.
Sherwood Forest, £55 from next week, same criteria
Blairgowrie, two excellent courses, Rosemount & Lansdowne excellent value at £70 at present actually drops to £25 next month but you potentially have to use fairway mats so would suggest waiting until April at £55.
But there are a lot of great courses that you can play in November at much reduced rates from their usual high rates in the summer.

I also played Fairmont St. Andrews but the Torrance course. £40 for an afternoon tee on a Sunday booked direct with the club. That was spring 3 years ago. Spectacular in all ways!
More recently , £20 for a members guest at macdonald portal 7 days a week is pretty good too.
