Fourteen players attended the fourth round of the Romford Winter League 2008 event held at South Essex GC.
After our coffee/bacon roll we headed for the first tee and our 9am start time.
It appears that the strong winds we were due to have had already passed us by and the sun was shining as we teed off.
Despite the weather the course was in a very good condition. The tees, fairways and greens were all very good. The bunkers were playable but the rain from the night before had made them hard. The greens were damp to start with so putting was difficult, but they dried out as the round progressed. The combination of the wind and sun playing a big part.
I was pleased with my round of 88, for a stableford points score of 33 from a handicap of 14. The winner on the day was Dave Roth who amassed a respectable 35 points.
The shot of the day from my group was from Andy Kenyon, who hit a wedge shot from the semi-rough, and from about 25 yards he left the ball two feet from the flag.
Everybody said how they had enjoyed the day which is nice to hear as it's always a gamble playing winter league games, weather wise!
