 My basic understanding is the more bounce the better for sand or long grass lies.
Conversely less bounce for tighter (fairway) lies.

Yes or no ?

 In the old sense yes, but there are so many variables these days. It depends on each individual swing, whether you are a digger, sweeper or neutral swing. I got fitted for wedges 5 years ago and last year got fitted again for wedges and my setup had completely changed. So the wedges that didn't work for me 5 years ago now work perfectly. Hope this makes sense
