Dear TSGers,

It's with great sadness that I have to inform you that my best mate and friend of TSG, Daryl Fenton, passed away on Monday. Daryl had been unwell for many years with a heart condition, although he never made a fuss. It got to the stage where the only option was a transplant. He had the transplant on Saturday but things didn't go well and after a second surgery on Monday, he passed away. He was just 51.

Brian Scott and I have been blessed with knowing Daryl well and have many special memories of him. Thanks to Daryl's love of bidding on charity fourball vouchers, we got to play a wide variety of courses. I know many of you joined his games and will have your own fond memories of him.

Daryl is survived by his wife Denise, daughters Kelsey and Jade and his two grandchidren. Our thoughts are with them.

When I hear of any arrangements, I will let you know.

Miss you mate

Dave

I'd met and played with Daryl on just a few occasions, he was always upbeat and happy to be on a golf course. I've heard many stories from those that knew him best and have benefited from his vouchers. So obviously a man who loved his golf. A sad loss, he will be sadly missed.

Can't believe this. Such terrible news. He was such a top bloke, never said a bad word about anyone or anything. Even his ill health, he shrugged off, to not cause a problem for anyone else.
My regards to Dave, Brian and his family. R.I.P Daryl.😪

Daryl's passing has upset me even more than I thought it would. Maybe due to his age, his always cheery disposition, or the fact that I'll never again play golf with all the original "3 amigos" or "Essex Boys" as I called them.

Daryl was the voucher king. He taught me lots but never revealed every one of his many angles. My favourite course (one of Daryl's too) is the Dukes at Woburn. Way out of my price range normally but played there 3 times for a pittance thanks to Daryl. And so many other great courses over the years.

I don't know his family so my thoughts currently are with Dave and Brian. We'll raise a glass the next time we meet up guys. We'll try and get a deal somewhere. Seems appropriate :-)

John
