 *UK Based Golfers*

We are looking for golfers in the UK to complete a 10-minute survey about golf injuries. Both those that have and have not suffered injuries are eligible.

With the evolution of the modern golf swing, we feel this is the appropriate time to survey the type, regularity and severity of injuries suffered by UK based golfers. The survey has full ethical approval from Abertay University and will help inform the future direction of our work in regards to golf performance and injury prevention.

Click to access the survey http://abertay.co/golfinjury

Any further question please email the contact details noted on the information sheet or comment below.

Thanks in advance.

Interesting study Graeme, I’ve completed the survey. I’ve just returned to golf after spinal surgery.
I try, not always to warm up and at least stretch before golf.
hydration is also so important, I play with many players who don’t drink while playing for five hours!
As we get older, warming up is so important. I now will only drive an hour to play golf, sitting in cars for 2 hours then trying to play golf is asking for trouble. Looking forward to reading the results!

My warm up before a game these days consists of me walking from the car to the pro shop, paying for the game and then teeing off.

Ditto re returning to golf after spinal surgery, herniated disc pressing onto nerve root as it exited the spinal chord. Wasn't directly caused due to a golf swing but was by my action of jumping over a ditch on Risebridge golf course and not cushioning my landing. My back warm up routine was provided by the physio team post surgery and highly recommended by my consultant. Look after your backs out there.

Hi Paul, thanks for your interest in the golf injury survey. That's great that you've made a return to play golf following your spinal surgery. Hopefully everything is going well. I'm sure warming up before play and hydration during play is helping your recovery, as well as your golf. It is incredibly important. We will be more than happy to share the results when we've completed the analysis. Thanks again for completing the survey.

Hi Jonathan, thank you for completing our survey, it is very much appreciated. I know what you mean! It can sometimes be difficult to find the time to warm-up but it can be incredibly important to injury prevention, as well as performance. Thanks again Jonathan

Hi Martin, That is extremely unfortunate with regards to your spinal injury. However, it sounds like you're back playing golf again with a comprehensive warm-up in place, which is great. Graeme
