I'd like to play casually, for practice before getting involved with tournaments. Is this possible ?

I find going out alone is really good practice as you have no one watching you adding pressure onto you to play well. On your own if you hit a bad shot you can replay the shot in your head and think what went wrong, then correct so it doesn't happen again!!

Bill, I do it all the time! Admittedly I'm a member of a club, so I could if I wanted just go out and play 4 holes. Sometimes I'll go and have a couple of hours practice and then I'll walk onto the course and play two, four or six holes. The way my course is laid out you can't really play one hole as it's a long walk back to the clubhouse. Also, what I'll sometimes it hit my tee shot and then when I get to 100 yards I'll drop two or three other balls, and then I'll play all these balls until they are in the hole. The only thing to watch out for is people coming up behind you. If I see people behind me I'll either speed up or let them through. Sometimes, if the course is not busy I'll play two balls all the way round. Russ
