Are there any discussions with England Golf regarding sharing/verifying scores so that scores posted here contribute to you WHS?

Hi Jitz
Would be good if there was a sharing, but not liable to happen as EG are happy to allow everyone (not associated with a Club) to have a 'Nomad Membership' at a cost of (I think) £40. Which is dearer than I pay as a club member, where it is around £25 included in my annual subs. So, if you wanted that 'affiliation' between EG and TSG, in it's simplest form would mean a large hike in TSG fees, which to be honest, many would not be interested in and those of us already playing our EG subs, would possible end up paying twice!
If I'm wrong, Ian will no doubt put the correct points on view .

Not wrong at all JB and as many of you know, we here at TSG HQ have very strong feelings about EG!
Their website states...
www.englandgolf.org/about-us
"We support golf clubs with member recruitment and retention, we connect and engage with all golfers, we inspire and educate golf's network of volunteers, we increase golf's influence within local communities, and we advocate and inform on all elements of sustainability."
So nothing about 'handicaps'?
My questions?
- Why do we have to use their system to track our scores? After all, its just an mathematical formula?!
- Why does a Golf Handicap with a EG logo, demonstrate anymore reflection of your playing ability than our own TSG logo?
- If you don't belong to a club, why should you care who administers your handicap, as long as its correct?
- EG/iGolf is just as open to bandiatry as any other system? I have EG members openly tell me they know how to manipulate their h'cap with EG/iGolf
- They could licence the handicap system but that would leave them open to a 'competitive' market
- Surely there is a contradiction going on, why can Intelligent Golf, HowDidIDo/Club Systems etc provide third party Handicaps to clubs but no one elses is recognised?
Ps EG receive £9.50 per player from every club member
------------------------------------------------------------
However, a few more points to clarify:
- We are a completely independent organisation and have no relationship to England Golf (they don’t want to work with us!)
- Since EG have their own online Handicap System (iGolf) launched in July 2021 - which is now £44 pa(!!)
- EG do not recognise any online handicaps (apart from their own now they have one) incl. TSG and the two other leading independent H'cap platform providers i.e. Golfshake & MOGC (convenient?)
- It is predicted EG will raise £5m from iGolf (buys a few more blazers for everyone at Woodhall Spa!)
- We were short-listed to be an EG partner 8 years ago (before they even thought of iGolf) but lost out to You Golf Travel (who take people out of UK to play?!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now a few reasons why we don’t think EG/iGolf is a WHS (World Handicap System) or as good as TSG's...
- You cannot enter scores outside England (If you play in Scot/Wales, you cant enter a card) so not a 'World Handicap System' is it?
- England Golf (despite what many think) are NOT the authority on the WHS (rules are set by USGA & R&A)
- If you put in a card to iGolf, you have to wait until after midnight for your handicap to change? (Why?)
- You can call us any time Mon- Fri (Can you call EG/iGolf?)
- We only charge £20 pa for the TSG Handicap Index. they now charge £44 pa
- Since its launch, EVERY single penny of TSG membership fees have been ploughed back into the site
As such, why should we care about what EG do? If we can produce a system at half the price, why can’t they?
Just our view of course!

I have just returned from a holiday in Turkey. Simple as anything to enter all my cards into the TSG system, but, before going I asked EG what I would need to do to enter cards overseas. Well, to put it bluntly, EG are a damned joke, what follows is an extract from the mail they replied to me with (needless to say, I have entered nothing on my supposed WHS handicap)
Currently golfers can only pre-register and post scores from general play rounds at any rated course in England via the MyEG app. This function is available to all members of affiliated golf clubs in England who hold a World Handicap System™ index.
You can send a copy of the scorecard to the handicap advisor/committee at your home club.
- General play scores from outside of England must be returned to your home club within 3 weeks of the round being played.
- The final adjusted score must be included within the scorecard
- Where possible, scores must be countersigned by an official of the course being played (professional/manager)
- Scores must be attested (marked) by golfer who holds a WHS™ handicap index.
- When submitting score cards, you must provide the following information:
- Date of Round
- Country
- Venue
- Tee/Marker used
- Course Rating™
- Slope Rating™
- Par
- Include the correct final adjusted score
- A copy of your scorecard, signed by your attester
- Name and Local Id number of the attester (marker)
- Your membership number (previously named CDH)
Case proved. EG waste of space.

What a mess... I've always enjoyed TSG and how easy it is to enter the scores and join others to play. EG seems to just want money to provide a electronic score card with nothing else.
What is their (England Golf's) purpose?

Jitz,it's not really a mess, people like making things a mess. EG is the same principle as the TSG. When entering cards.
Most of the things JB listed in his last statement are already preloaded all you need to do is manually fill in your score and attester. TSG doesn't need an attester or marker to fill in a scorecard so you enter whatever score you want.
England Golf covers for liability insurance, which I might need some day,not sure if TSG offers liability insurance. If you get iGolf you can use it when you join a club, not sure if a TSG handicap will be accepted.
On a separate note, what the hell has happened to Brigitte? She's normally all over this.

Just planning my holiday in Fuerteventura and checking TSG had the correct Slope and Course rating for the course. i'm visiting, during my investigations i looked at National Course Database which the R & A take their information from and guess what SPAIN is not included.
HOW CAN THIS BE? It just proves that their is no such thing at present as World Handicap System for now, Must be work in progress LOL

There's more than Spain missing. France, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Czech republic too. Probably more but hardly a comprehensive list.

Yes Adam, seems the WHS handicap system is a 'version' of the systems in use in other countries of the world.
In fact, the WHS handicap system is NOT a World system, because there is no worldwide database.
