Recently I've been playing golf and when it's been wet my left foot has been a bit damp after the round.

Today, after all the rain we've had I played the Priors course at Stapleford Abbotts GC.

The ground was wet with standing water.

Phil in the shop said that only two other people had played today and they gave up after nine holes!  But it was raining and I wouldn't have started the round.

When my playing partner and I teed off at 1pm the rain had stopped, but the wind was blowing!

As we walked down the first fairway I noticed my left foot was getting wetter and wetter.

My left shoe had finally given up the ghost.

So I played the full 18 holes with a soaken wet left foot.

You could hear the water in my shoe as I walked along the sodden fairways.

I'm a very lucky man, as I walked in my wife, Paula was coming into the hallway and I showed her my wet sock.  She said I would have to get some new shoes as I couldn't carry on like that.  When I said "Don't worry, I'll just put a bread bag inside my sock for now," she wounldn't have it.

So we went down to Decathlon at Lakeside and I'm now sat at home with a new pair of Footjoy Aqualites.

So I was wondering if anybody what stories you have about things you've played through?

Russ,

You should have saved yourself a few quid and purchased a pair of waterproof Sealskinz mid thermal socks.

Please find listed below a link for the above product.

Now come on Dale - tell the truth. If your wife had offered you the choice of either a pair of waterproof socks or a brand new pair of golf shoes, what would you have gone for??????? Thanks for the link though - we might all be in need of that for this recession!

Thanks for the link Dale.

I'll have a look at these, they just might be worth buying.

And it's true, new sock or new shoes!  What should I go for?

Fair point, yes I would have opted for the new shoes every time. I was in my local Black’s outdoor store this afternoon and I picked up a pair of said socks for around £22.00.

I will let you guys now how they get on.

Kind Regards
