I played at my golf club today and they were having a junior golf tournament.

This was not the club, but something to do with the Essex Golf Union.

So nice to watch some of these youngsters out on the course.

There must have been about twenty or so of them, all with their mums/dads carrying their bags for them.

And some really nice swings also on dispaly, some fine golfers to be amonst this lot I bet!

As I walked up the 7th fairway I was watching two young girls, only about 8 or 9 putting out on the 15th green.  A good putting stroke did both these girls have.

Glad to hear that the juniors are getting the opportunity to strut their stuff out on the course.

We have a great bunch of youngsters at my home course in Carluke and long may that continue as they are the life blood of our game. I personally feel that all too often they are forgotten at club level with very little recognition.

Kind Regards

My son has just got into the Essex Ur12s Coaching squad this is his 4th year started in the Ur 10s at 8. He has a  home club but the boys are very clicky so he dose not have any one to go round with dose any one have a son or daughter who is his age who he can play with. I am lucky to have had 2 adult members on this site say they will have a game with him which is great. He needs to get his handy cap down to 18 or under by November 2009 to get into the Ur13 squad he is an adult 26 at the moment so really has to play with lower handy cap for him to do this. He should manage to do it if he can get more good players to play with. I do not drive we live in Romford so can not change clubs he can walk to his golf club. I just hope I can get more good player to play with him. Thanks

Welcome to the site Heather, what took you so long?

Congratulations to Nat for getting into the coaching scheme again this summer.

Hopefully his cold will be gone ready for our round next Saturday.

I am involved in a group that is family orientated with no age or gender bias. We would love it if parents and their children participated in our "laid-back" games. We only play during "twilight" hours, so we are on the course way after the competition players have retired to the pub. So come on moms and dads and kids, we need you.

Maybe the TSG site should modify the application screen that bars people under 16 - perhaps to include junior members under 16 provided registration is undertaken by their parents or grandparents?
