In the season of wetter days and shorter daylignts, range work replaces some on course games. There are driving ranges near me that show Toptracer or Trackman data for shots.

When I saw the following data for a pair of my shots:

  Driver, Curve L 4 yd, Offline L 8 yd, Carry 150 yd
Lob Wedge, Curve L 1 yd, Offline L 4 yd, Carry 52 yd

I was initially wondering if the shapes of the two shots are rather different.

After applying some maths calculation to turn yards into angle degrees, I get the following:

Driver, Launch Direction -3.3 deg, Curve Angle -1.1 deg, Landing Direction -4.4
Lob Wedge, Launch Direction -1.5 deg, Curve Angle -1.5, Landing Direction -3.1

It turns out that the two shot shapes are almost the same - a baby draw.

Do you have some range data that can do with similar kind of interpretation? Let me know.
