Can someone from the admin team tell me if dormant accounts are automatically removed from this site due to lack of activity i.e. accounts that have not been accessed within the last two or three months. I have noticed that quite a lot of account users are located in my local area but there seems to be very little in the way of forum contributions or games being posted. This may have something to do with the extremely poor weather over the last couple of months and with a little luck hopefully things will pick up in the coming months. Kind Regards Dale Strachan

Hi Dale, I don't think inactive accounts are deleted from this site. I'm a member of another golf forum and like here, when I post a game it sends out hundreds of invites, but only ten or so people will actually respond! Let's hope the weather gets better and more people start playing golf. Or why don't you post your own game and see who responds to it? Russ

Russ, Thanks for your comments in connection to my query. I have posted a couple of games so far both with mixed fortunes. On the plus side i have managed to fix up a fourball at my home course in Carluke for this Sunday however my proposed game at Bothwell Castle on Friday 6 February has not received as much attention. I suppose I will just have to remain patient and wait too see what happens. Kind Regards Dale Strachan

Hi Dale, No accounts are not deleted automatically, but we do delete inactive accounts as part of our periodic 'admin tidy ups' and, funnily enough, the last such purge was conducted a couple of weeks ago when we deleted nearly 300 'inactive' accounts. The reason we don't let the system do it is because it's a subjective assessment (there may be very genuine reasons someone hasn't logged on for a couple of months) so the idea is to get rid of accounts where the member is not deemed to be 'adding' to our community (member not added any detail about themselves, not contributed to the community eg games, forums etc and not logged on recently). Hope that helps. Regards, Pete, TSG Golf Team. PS. The default sort order for a member search (under the 'Members' menu option) is 'Most recent activity' so, unless you change the sort order to eg 'name' then your search eg of members in your area will be returned in the order of their last system activity (so ignore the ones at the end of the list !! -- 29/01/2009 11:07:21: post edited by TheSocialGolfer.
