Played Portpatrick a year or two back - I agree - it is well worth a visit. Probably the most enjoyable course for the price in that part of the South-West coast of Scotland.

On the East coast of Scotland / Scottish Borders - would highly recommend Eyemouth Golf Club. It is a links layout with a nice par 3 over a gorge with the sea below. This hole features in the book "Britain'sMost Extraordinary Golf Holes".

A little further inland in the Scottish Borders, would recommend West Linton Golf Club and The Hirsel. Both clubs are very accomodating and friendly.

Further south on the East coast of Northumberland - try Dunstanborough Castle Golf Club. Stunning views of the ruined castle. Testing links course, especially if the wind is strong and the flagsticks are bending over!
