Apologies for the blank post earlier - Active X controls disabled on PC so had to go to another one.

Hi All

I am sure quite a few of you has already entered the POGT 2009 (www.pogt.co.uk), but for those that haven't or don't know about it visit their website for more information.

In a nutshell:

You pay £37.50 to play in a regional qualifier throughout the UK (spaces are getting limited) and then if you qualify you get to play at Turnberry Golf Course in Scotland in the final in October.  It is great value for money and also gives us amateurs the chance to play at a British Open Venue.

So visit their website and join ASAP.

See you at the qualifiers and hopefully in Scotland!!

Tiaan

Another qualifying event has now been added to the POGT.  Woolston Manor GC in Chigwell on 4 August.

Hi Tiaan, will they only accept handicap certificates from CONGU affiliated golf clubs or will handicaps from online 'clubs' (eg TSG) be acceptable?

Hi Pete/Neil

I have been in touch with the organisers of the POGT 2009 to clarify this.  Here is their response:

"We work closely with the Pro's on each qualifying course as well as having a Director who handles top professional golfers. Should any player bring in a score that is suspect we will hold a full investigation before letting him/her play at Turnberry."

So, they will accept a printout of your online handicap (with history) for the qualifiers.  Maximum handicap is 24.

I only have a golf site handicap and I am playing.

Hi David

I'm going up there.  I'm in game 9.  Tee-time is around 12.36 I think.

See you there.  Tiaan

What a shame.  They were going to show the Hampton Court qualifiers on Wed night on Setanta, but they stopped broadcasting Tues night!!!! Typical. Good luck to the rest of you still playing your qualifiers.

Ah, I presume that you did not get through the qualifiers. Bad luck. Was it a good/well handled event?

No, unfortunately I didn't make the cut.  Gutted as I was on 19 points after the first 9 holes playing off 3/4 hdcp of 16 instead of 21.  Had a great round though.  It was well organised and will play again next year.
