It seems to me that the number of people who leave pitch marks on the green is growing steadily. Is this true or is just the opinion of an old fashioned guy?

Marcel, you are correct on this matter.

It appears that I am repairing more and more pitch marks when I'm playing golf.

Mabye it's just the way this country is going at the moment.

The worse ones are the good players who say "That's why we have greenkeepers!", then moan like mad on the next green when their putt bobbles on the way to the hole!

Hi,

I think you are right. I also am repairing more and more pitchmarks. I play at a club where they have two courses and they now use one of them mainly for pay and play. When we play this course that is where you are forever repairing pitchmarks. I think there must be a bit of 'i'm only here for the day so why should i do it'. Thats not to say you dont have to repair a few pitchmarks on the members only course though!

regards
steve

Yes, I agree with you all. Pity we can't introduce a penalty shot for non repair of pitchmarks, non replacement of divots and not raking out bunkers.

Hi,

Totally agree with all the previous comments.i find more and more of the greenfee players have this attitude that i am only here for the day so why should i worry. I have on occasions spoken to players that i have noticed not repairing pitch marks or diviots and on one occasion was met with alot of abuse. (Guess it the sign of the times).

And the worst of all is that some who used to behave properly are now wondering if it's worth the effort.

Hi Carol,
It's a good idea but only if you want to see average handicaps skyroketing!
