Anyone had any coaching at the David Brooks Golf Academy at The Warren Golf Club Chelmsford?

I've decided I'm going to make some effort to improve my game this year and so am looking for an excellent swing coach who has excellent teaching facilities available to him/her (Explanar Swing Trainer; Video Swing Analysis; Grass Driving Range etc).

I've read a few good things about David Brooks and the David Brooks Golf Academy (PGA Swing Tutor, Essex County Coach etc). BUT has anyone actually been coached by him and is he any good at teaching 18 handicappers as opposed to 'tweaking the swing' of scratch golfers?

No Pete - can't say I've received any coaching from him, but if you are looking for an excellent coach with Explanar, Video Swing analysis etc , you could go to a far more local guy at Staplehurst. They have 2 teaching pro's there: I had quite a few lessons with Scott and found him to be an excellent teacher (it's us pupils that are the problem!)

Hi,

David Brooks is always advertising in the local golf magazine which is surprising as most good teachers acquire pupils by word of mouth.  When I enquired about lessons for my short game he did seem quiet expensive.  A friend of mine went to his short game school and said he felt he provided quick fixes rather than dealing with the cause of the problem.

Thanks for the advice. It would seem that David has been 'damned by faint praise' so I'll maybe try the Staplehurst guys (or maybe Chart Hill?)

David Brokes is one of the boys Essex Coaches Nat has been with them for a few years have heard that some of the boys have coasching with him and there parents are really happy with him. Nats coach Nick Rose and Olivers Fishers coach are really good as well and are Essex coaches they are based at Crowlands Heath Golf Club have been told that they are one of the reasons that the Essex Boys are winning a  lot of cmps.
