Hi Everyone,

Was looking for some ideas of some competitions that are fun to play alongside either stroke play or match play games as im going away for a 3 day golfing break on Friday and apart fro the usual closest to pin and longest drive im struggling for alternatives.

Any thoughts would be great.

Cheers.

Hi,

We play Nearest the pin with the second shot, Also if they have a practice area speak to the pro and set up some targert golf

I E  Say  buckets at 20,30 40 yards and so on. also on a number of greens player have to put the wrong way round Right hander must put left handed and visa versa, but are allowed to put with any club they like that is in their bag, On another hole, the hole has to be played from start to finish with a nominated club could be a driver, 9 iron ,or putter.

Hope these help we have had some great fun doing all of these

Regards
Roger

At my league events we have a 'Par 3 Challenge' where all the scores from the par three holes are added together using the stableford scoring system.

We also run a 'Mystery 5' game, get the person in the pro shop to write down five hole numbers and don't let anyone see them.  At the end of the game work out the stableford scores for the five mystery holes.

Hi,

we also play 4 corners ie the score on 1, 9,10 and 18. Also if there is enough of you for team events play groups using a marked ball wherby each player plays the marked ball in turn and the team score is made up of scores from just that ball. If the ball is lost the that team score ends there. Adds a bit of pressure when its your turn to tee up over water! If theres only 3 or 4 of you what about 'ousels and fousels' - every par 3 the player on the green nearest the pin with there tee shot has to get down in no more than par, if he does then the other players pay him else he pays them.

Have fun

Steve
