I've been an unhappy contributor to the profits of Sky (aka Mr. Murdoch & family) for too many years, but, I have to ask, is anyone else a tad upset with the fact that they continue to extort the same exhorbitant fees despite the fact that they have 'lost' 50% of the football and 70% of the golf. I for one have 'tried' to cancel twice only to be enticed back with 'free' offers but now these have expired I am again about to cancel. Anyone else??????????

Pete : Have to agree with you although the answer is not BBC or ITV - as they have even less sport ! Setanta seem to have appeared from nowhere to take a large proportion of the "action". I refuse to pay the extra £10 per month to Setanta (along with many of my golf club colleagues) in the hope that "money will finally talk" and the satelite stations will stop fighting for the same pot of events. What has made the whole situation worse is the demise of The Golf Channel (this side of the Pond) - meaning no LPGA golf, which I found to be good viewing. What about The Social Golfer sending a petition to Mr Murdock (Jnr) to ask him to start negotiating with Setanta ? Thanks for Hever - good fun. Bob Smith

Setanta is actually good value for us sports fans. You can have setanta with a digi box so you can cancel the Sky contract and use just them for £10 per month. Ok, you'll have to miss out on the US open and the PGA, but you get a lot of US golf and the number of footy games is increasing all the time. Sky is a rip off and they only give the best deals to new customers to entice them in! Viva Setanta!!!

I agree entirely with the rants against the treatment of sky subscibers, by sky TV. We!ve lost american golf, womens golf, the golf channel, a lot of football, yet no reduction in fees. If 20 years ago the BBC had taken their heads out of the sand and had a dedicated sports channel none of these complaints would have been relevant. A petition would collect a lot of signatures. Regards, Brookie,

No offence, but the petition suggestion made me smile. I'm not a betting man but I think the chance of those nice Mr. Murdochs (father and the son who was nepotistically placed at the head of a public corporation by dad) taking any notice whatsoever of a petition I'd guess at slightly less than zero. The only thing they'll react to is a drop in subscriber numbers. So, if we really want to do something we'd have to cancel in our thousands and there's the rub - cancelling by myself would give me a nice warm feeling but means that, when I do turn the tv on, I'd have an even smaller selection to choose from and my cancellation wouldn't even register on the radar of Sky TV. So, a conundrum...
