(apologies to the bard)

when playing a par 3 i see that many people do not use  a tee, rather they play directly off teh ground.

My question is - why is that done, and should i as i mid-high handicapper consider doing so?

Many pros do not use a tee but when Greg Norman was once asked the same question he responded that it's not often you get the opportunity for a perfect lie so don't waste it !!

well thats all the advice i need and its more or less what i have always thought so if its good enough for Mr Evertt -its good enough for me!!!!

mind you he did used to wear those ridiculous straw boaters whilst playing so not all his advice is valid...............

I would tee the ball up every time, why turn down the chance to have the ball sitting just right to give you a good connection with it?

I use the orange castle tees so my balls are kept as close to the ground as they can be.

The only time I would consider putting my ball on the grass is if the grass had not been cut and I could put my ball on top of the grass.

Normally though the tees are kept cut short and some are bare lies so go for the tee every time.
