what is your trusty 3 wood? (manufacturer, steel or graphite shaft etc) and do you have trouble keeping the ball straight?

So have you tried the Ping G5 driver? (I know it's been replaced but you can still easily get them and, because they're now a whole 1 year old and so are 'obsolete', you can get then more reasonably priced). If you're going that route try to get the same shaft as your other woods but, rather than just buying off the internet, it's worth tracking down a driving range that's still got them so that you can try the different lofts to find the one that suits (and then, if it suits you, haggle 'cos they'll want to be getting rid of them) .

Hi There, If you play off 28 I assume you slice the ball ? If so I would recommend you test drive a K1 Speed driver by Slazenger (can be purchased from JJB Sports or through the eBay web site). I purchased one (I now have a spare also) 15 months ago and my handicap has dropped from 18 to 12 (did go as low as 11.3). I used to slice off the tee but very rarely do I now. The fins on the base of the club really do work and apart from hitting the ball straighter off the tee I now hit it 20 yards further. It may not be for you (I have a fairly slow swing) but it's another option to consider. Good Golfing.

Your a 28 handicapper who hits his 3 wood straight 9 times out of ten! You need to forget your driver worries and concentrate on making more pars from the centre of the fairway, your irons / short game / putting is in need of a rethink not your driver problem. We all get caught out with the holy grail of distance, I would happily play from the fairway 9 out of 10.
