I've been on the site today and added the scorecard for Belhus Park Golf and Country Club.

There scorecard has four tees, White, Yellow, Winter and Red.

When I tried to add the 'Winter' tee I could not as there was no way to add this tee!

Hi Russ,

The system contains the colour codes for the majority of 'permanent' tees.

The reason we didn't make specification of the 'Tee' a free format field is that, once the scorecard has been entered for a specific tee, the system allows other members to use it for the purpose of entering their scores and calculating their handicap and a temporary tee set (eg different tee boxes used in the winter months) would not have a published course Rating/SSS (Standard Scratch Score) and so could not be used for CONGU handicap calculation).

Does that make sense?

Regards,
Pete, TSG Golf Team

Hi Pete, and thanks for the answer.

I fully understand what you are saying and normally I wouldn't add a 'Temp' tee as a scorecard.

Belhus Park do have a 'Winter' tee on their scorecard and it does include a SSS for it, that is why I would have added it.

I've not played here before but I have one of my summer league games there a week on Sunday.

It could be that they use mats during the winter months and have gone to the trouble of getting the SSS submitted for them.

That's a first for me - a 'winter tee' option on the scorecard. Is it because they have permanent mats in place and so know the distances etc?

Pete, it's good isn't it?

It's also the first time I've come across a scorecard that has a permanent 'Winter' tee option.

They must have mats set up permanently and during the winter months you play off these.

So they must have decided to have the SSS worked out for the mats.

The course is as follows

White Tees - 5501 yards, Par 69 with a SSS of 68

Winter Tees - 5496 yards, Par 69 with a SSS of 68

Yellow Tees - 5305 yards, Par 69 with a SSS of 67

Now looking at the difference between the white tees and the winter tees why did they not just put the mats with the white tees, and tell everyone who is playing off the mats to use the white SSS for their handicaps.

I'm there on Sunday so I'll ask them to explain why they have done this.

Yes !  5501 yards v 5496 yards - 5 yards less with the same Par & SSS, why they didn't just tell people to use the White Tee detail on the card is me thinks a pertinent question...
