I would like to start off a new group which will not work in the same way as the others, but am open to suggestions to make it practical!

Possibly going under the heading of 'lastminutegolfers.com' , I'm hoping to gather together some members who are willing to be contacted at short notice for a game. Have you ever found yourself with a free afternoon, but no game arranged? Or maybe arranged to play, then your partner has cancelled at the last minute?

People adding themselves to the group would need to be prepared to exchange phone numbers, and when the opportunity presents itself, could possibly send a 'group' text asking who fancies a game or could make a prebooked tee-time at short notice? No obligation for the recipients to play, but then again, the timing might be perfect!

It would mean that games would not be posted - or perhaps members would take a chance 24 hours beforehand. Should it be divided into areas eg. Sittingbourne + 10 miles? Do people need to be specific about possible availability - eg definitely not Saturday pm - or will that make it too complicated?

As I said, the idea is in the early stages - but please comment so that we form a group to suit the majority.

I like the idea and would certainly join and I think it would easily work if the group was set up with a 'home' area ie the centre of where people would travel to (eg Sevenoaks) then people could join if tehy wanted (some people are prepared to travel further for a game than others).  then people could either post a game in the group at short notice (eg 24-36 hours) and send a message to all group members to see if anyone else is up for it or we could swap phone numbers within the group and allow people to send text messages at even shorter notice (but I guess it's less likely that other members will be availalbe at very short notice).  So, in summary, yep, looks good to me and I'd join a one local to Sevenoaks/Maidstone (other areas could then set their own up).

I think it's a great idea. I would only be able to play certain locations but I don't think you'd be able to add the preference without having a number of groups.

The group sounds ok to me. I would be happy for last minute games as there is no obligation and therefore if you cant make it you are not letting anyone down. text message and games set up both sound ok depending on how much time is available prior to the game.
